After 20 years as a Shab Row fixture, Needles & Pins closed its doors last month, but will continue offering quilting and other craft classes at Needles & Pins Sewing Studio at The Business Factory of Frederick at 801 N. East St. Owner Cindy Powell says “the 20 year mark is a milestone, and an opportune time to move into something new and exciting,” yet at the same time she will miss seeing her regular retail customers. The business will have an online store and continue to offer sewing machine repairs and service. Powell says she’s jazzed about the larger space she will have for classes. “There’s lots of free parking and easy access.” An open house is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 24 at the new location with demonstrations, an explanation of classes being offered and crafts for children. www.needles-n-pins.com
