Throwback Thursday: The Storm of ’29

Posted on 05.29.14 – History, Throwback Thursdays

The crazy weather of late is nothing compared to May 2, 1929, when torrential downpours caused the Potomac River to rise at a rate of one foot per hour and a tornado touched down in Brunswick and Mt. Pleasant, causing two deaths and several injuries. This Throwback Thursday photo shows workers from the Potomac Edison Co. attempting to repair one of many damaged utility poles after the storm.
